Goldenfry Foods aim to reduce waste and minimise the impact of the site processes on the environment by:
- Compliance to environmental legislation and the requirements of both customer and industry codes of practice and targets.
- Energy – Introducing energy efficiency measures to reduce electricity usage in all areas of the site without impacting manufacturing processes.
- Carbon Reductions (Scope 1 & Scope 2) – Reduction in carbon emissions against base year 2019.
- Water Usage – Promoting the efficient use of water where used on site without compromising hygiene standards.
- Food Waste – Reduction in processing food waste by re-processing granules.
- Food Waste – Redistribution of food waste to human consumption using charitable outlets where possible.
- Waste – Reducing packaging waste by improving manufacturing efficiencies across site, packaging recovery and separation for recycling.
- Packaging – Continually reviewing the quantity and recyclability of packaging whilst maintaining food safety and minimising usage.
- Hazardous Materials – Managing and maintaining the storage and handling of hazardous materials to prevent pollution.
- Personnel – Ensuring employees, including contractors, are responsible for working in a manner that protects the environment.
Goldenfry Foods recognise the requirement for immediate action and have se the following targets:
- Halving the site’s greenhouse gas emissions before 2030
- Achieving net zero emissions before 2050
- Disclosing the site’s progress on an annual basis
